Happiness on Sale

What is the importance of old books and thinkers in contemporary democracy? This question was the starting point of the project where we explored Spinoza's ideas. While he criticized the church as a power structure which keeps people from using their reason, we saw the relevance of his claims in the context of capitalism. Giant labels and discount signs with Spinoza's quotes, placed in shopping streets and business districts question the role of free thinking in a consumerist society.
